Casting a Greener Future
2010 AFI National Conference which will be held in Adelaide, 17-20th October 2010 at the Stamford Grand Hotel, Glenelg.The theme of the conference is “Casting a Greener Future”. This will encompass not only environmental issues but looking at ideas for a brighter, better, future for the Australian Foundry industry.Along with information on important environmental issues we will also be including topics on productivity improvement, operating cost reduction, process improvement and occupational health and safety.The Adelaide conference will be a compact venue with trade display, accommodation and entertainment being held in the one location at beachside Glenelg. The hotel is well situated being 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the city centre by the convenient tram line which terminates just outside the hotel. The Stamford Grand is a 5* hotel with all the facilities and services you would expect.
The Glenelg area has many great restaurants with a variety of cuisines all within a short stroll from the hotel. And whilst in Adelaide, we hope you take the chance to explore some of our city and nearby areas. Adelaide is a small city, that is easy to navigate due to its planned nature with wide streets and lots of parklands.South Australia has a wide diversity of landscapes from beaches to the outback, from the rugged to the restful, from the dry to our world class wine producing areas. Within a short drive from the hotel you are amongst the vines and tasting wines from all the well known giants of the industry to small boutique wineries where you could find the perfect drop to suit your tastes.
Next year we will be trialling a new system for conference management called Cvent which is a totally on-line way of marketing a conference, taking registrations and payments, and providing feedback and information to delegates.
